I hoped it was, as well.

Archie is an old Scottish name. It is not a diminutive of Archibald. The English added the -bald to the Scottish name. Try not to be provincial Americans.

You’re posting on an American website. If you don’t want to hear from Americans, you are more than welcome to switch to posting on “London Urban Moms & Dads”. Perhaps the royal thread count would drop a bit here. We can only hope.

My kid is adopted. So, maybe it’s different but doesn’t everyone wait for their birth certificate?

I waited about2 weeks, but I’m not in England.

You get the birth certificate instantly in England. You go and register at the office in the area of birth anytime in the days following - I think up to a couple of months but most go in the first few days (or in Harry’s case probably the registrar came to him!) and they fill it out in front of you and give you a copy then and there. Then it goes in a public database and that is how this copy came out - a researcher for a newspaper would have gone and requested it. It takes a few days to get in the database so that’s the delay. (Signed, Brit who used to work as a researcher at a British newspaper, and did these registry office searches all the time!)

It's public record.

Although Princess Meghan has a nice 80s ring to it - like Princess Jennifer or Princess Tiffany

HRH Archie...where's his pal Jughead?

Archie is not a nickname. It came first. Do the work if you plan to post here.

Archie is the worst name ever. I judged Amy Poehler and Will Arnett and am judging Princess Meghan and Prince Harry.

What are your baby names? So we can judge accurately.

If you don’t name your kid out of a prescribed list of DCUM Americana names, you’ve set your kid up for a life of failure.

Luckily for Archie, he has the Royal Family.
