But I think OP is right and I think it is a dog whistle. Maybe a lot of people don’t know it is one or don’t see it as one, but that does not make is any less of one. That’s the point of dog whistles, only some hear them.

The company had been around for a while. Apply common sense and logic to this situation, no one noticed because there was nothing to notice.
If you look hard enough at anything with the suggestion of impropriety, you can find an issue
