I'm with you. I have now had 4 abdominal surgeries - 2 c-sections, a gall bladder removal and surgery to remove colon cancer. I give up on my stomach. It will never see the light of day again. And I'm OK with that. I'm turning 42 and I do NOT need to be able to show off my body anywhere outside of the bedroom.

I work in healthcare and took care of a patient who had botulism gone wrong and had permanent issue moving their forehead (made a neuro assessment interesting). I also would say, working in healthcare, you are all too aware of how things can go wrong. Personally, no plastic surgery or invasive anything for me unless it's vital for my health. The only necessary surgery is for saving your life or serious quality of life. My tummy pooch doesn't meet my criteria so I'll live with it.

Agreed. I am 42, no kids. Weigh three pounds more than I did in high school, but look much heavier/older. I know I've lost muscle tone (though I try to stay fit), but a lot of it is just getting older.

We all do. None of us set out to look like teenage boys. We also want to be lithe and delicate, which requires being slim.
