The racial makeup of the selection committee is 100% in MCPS's control. These people are appointed.
MCPS has no control over which students perform better than others on achievement and cognitive tests and grades.
You mean it doesn't fit your narrative and agenda.
Yes - the agenda and narrative of rewarding merit and meeting the needs of all students. High performing students need the rigor of magnets, low performing students need remedial courses and support. MCPS should first try and get the URMs to be at least on "grade level" without lowering the criteria, and then look at the magnet program which is very small in the whole scheme of things.
We just moved our kid to Nysmith for next year. Might move house too. No reason to stay here for the schools.
Don't let the doors hit you on your way out.

I never know how to respond to those posts either. Do the people who post them, except us to say, "Come back, Shane!" or "All is forgiven, come home!" or "We're not worthy!" or...?
Too many smart and hard-working kids move away and the school suffers. Sorry but it’s just a fact. NP btw

Possibly. It would be easy to determine if they hadn’t quit publishing that information. I wonder why they did that.
This isn't enough information for you?

Posted by a PP who cited the report to show that they are admitting unqualified students.
The data in this report although interesting doesn’t show that standards have declined. It doesn’t provide details comparing current with past years. You’re making assumptions for which you have no supporting evidence.

Now that's the outrage !
Sounds like the test has an unfair cultural bias.
