So because you could only have one child, OP isn't allowed to complain or vent?

I have two kids and they seem to get along great for now. That said, I have a brother and we barely speak (like a couple times a year and only if we’re in the same place). We only fought and resented each other growing up.

My son looked at me today after playing at the neighbors’ houses all week, and said, “Man, I’m glad I don’t have a brother or a sister. There is so much fighting when there are more than one kid.”

I’m only 33 so I could probably have more, but one is just so smooth that I don’t want to rock the boat. Live it up and do all the cool things you couldn’t do with a baby in the picture. Sign him up for his passions, vacation somewhere cool, volunteer to coach/lead his activities. Life is good with one.

As an only child i was somehow very aware that everything i had would be shared if I’d had a sibling - toys, bedroom, parents time etc.

People asked me all the time if i wished i had a sibling and i looked at them like they’d lost their minds every time.

Being an only child is a wonderful gift, you need to believe that for your DC to believe it.
