OP, I’m sorry you found yourself in this situation. I’m sorry also that most of the replies aren’t particularly helpful.

I think you know that protracted arguments aren’t normal at any age. Walking away is the respectful thing to do. If one party pursues the other and won’t let an argument drop, that’s a red flag. It’s also a problem if both parties can’t let an argument go until cooler heads prevail.

Threatening suicide is very manipulative. It doesn’t matter what someone’s mental health background is. The only answer in that case is to call 911.

I hope you have a supportive mental health professional for yourself. This relationship sounds difficult and like one that needs better boundaries. It’s ok to get help and it’s ok to feel disappointed or down about your current situation.
