Saying there shouldn't be a Pride Night is in fact oppression.
You apparently are very dumb. No, practicing free speech is not oppression. You have your opinion the other poster has theirs. Have as many Pride nights as you want … the opinion is that they don't agree that a soccer game is a good venue for having one. That is an opinion, and that is all it is. I agree, not because it is "Pride" night, but because it is a sensitive topic that distracts from the primary purpose of the event. Just because someone does not agree with you doesn't mean they are oppressing you. Let's try this one instead. How about a "Pro Life" night one week followed by a "Pro Choice" life the next week? Would that be appropriate for a soccer match? Are how about "NRA" night followed by a "Anti-Gun" night? Can't we just go watch a freaking soccer game and not have people's agenda's and beliefs shoved down our throats? There's enough on the news and internet already, where the hell does one go to escape this barrage of political agendas? For that matter, eliminate the national anthem before a game too. Just too political and has nothing to do with soccer (or any sport for that matter).
For someone who wants to avoid discussing political agendas you seem to really want to discuss political agendas.
Don’t like Pride Night?
Step 1. Stay home on Pride Night
Step 2. Don’t start a thread discussing something that you don’t think needs to be shoved in your face by shoving your bigotry into ours.
If you want to be a bigot, do it the old fashion way and keep it to yourself.
Your kids aren’t gonna catch gay because they saw some Rainbows at a women’s soccer game.
I never said I am anti-gay, but you stupidly jump to that conclusion. The problem is that you’re so anti everyone else that your blinded by your feelings of rage for supossedly being oppressed.
You’re really too simple to understand what I am saying. This forum topic IS exactly for this type of discussion, but a pro soccer match is not. That is my point and my only point, you simpleton. Sports are for sports, and politics are for politics. Keep them separate. I love how if someone doesn’t agree with the use of a sporting event for a political agenda, that they are a biggot. Very logical conclusion ... not. Anyhow, enjoy your myopic and close minded life.
RIGHT?! Like, a pro soccer match is NOT the place to shove all this Star Wars crap in our face. That is my point and my only point. Sports are for sports, and theatrical films are for theatrical films. Keep them separate.
And NURSES' APPRECIATION NIGHT? Seriously? Where's the appreciation for Doctors? Can't we just go watch a freaking soccer game and not have people's career agenda's and beliefs shoved down our throats?
I'm offended by Marvel Superhero Night at the Nats game, personally. What if I like Shazam?
Just such dumb analogies. You’re just proving my point with your simplistic responses. I didn’t realize Star Wars and Marvel and Nurses were political. Nice try though. Btw. The next home game for the Spirit is BOGO “free abortion” night, followed by the bring your semi-automatic autograph night. Now THOSE are political agenda themes. I mean, try to keep on track here folks. Notice I also used both sides of the political spectrum lest I be pigeon holed. Anyhow, this is fun arguing with the soccer nuts on this forum who clearly head butted the ball one too many times. God I’m clever. Luv you.

It isn’t a sensitive topic it is simply a small celebration of diversity.

What about women, who prefer to have a relationship with a man? Is there a good reason for Spirit to exclude them and not have a straight people day at the game? I suspect that the vast majority of Spirit players and their fans fall into that category.
How are straight people excluded from anything?
They are not, but some people feel that the majority is marginalized because groups of actual marginalized or excluded groups have a theme day. Which is the intent of this post.
Why am I even reading this? Can we get back to bashing all the clubs in the area which seems to be the intend of this forum.

Not that it's any of anyone's business, but this might not be an accurate guess.
Again, if you have a problem with a Pride Night, women's soccer is probably not for you.
Maybe you can start a new sport and call it Jesus Ball or something. Loudoun Thoughts vs. Bethesda Prayers. Tickets cost $1,000, cuz that private jet ain't gonna pay for itself!

OP, have you every been to a Spirit game? Regardless of your personal beliefs, both the teams and a large segment of the fan base come from the LGBTQ community. If being around members of that community offends you, regardless of what is celebrated on a particular night, you might not enjoy going to the games . . . ever. If only Pride Night bothers you, stay home that night.
Respectfully, if you view a celebration of pride as offensive and you want to attend, speak with your daughter about your beliefs in advance as you would with any meaningful issue. If you go to any game, the issue is likely to come up. You may view celebration of pride ad being political, but many view it as a celebration of a community.
Beyond that, if it weren't for a loyal fan base much of which is drawn from the LGBTQ community, your daughter and all of our daughters (and sons) might not have the opportunity to watch amazing female professional athletes playing the beautiful game on a regular basis. For girls, soccer can't unite us if women's leagues do not exist. The league needs fan support to pay its players fair wages and to grow the sport to benefit this and future generations of female athletes. Keep that in mind.
The LGBTQ community is such a large portion of the fan base, it is the reason the league can financially sustain itself, giving my DD the opportunity to watch these amazing athletes? That's the funniest damn thing I've read all week! Bwahahahahaha. Thanks for transplaining it to me.
