I wonder op if your parents had this age gap and this is why you are pursuing it or they didn’t and their marriage had problems that you hope to avoid by choosing a man with this age gap.
From the height of my mid-40s, I can tell you that a person’s maturity (after a certain age) rarely increases dramatically. Yes, there is a big difference in maturity level (with some exceptions) between a 20 and a 30 /35 years old, but that gap narrows considerably after people age, and becomes much smaller if you compare a 35 and a 45 year old.
So, as you get into your late 20s and early thirties, the maturity of men in their late 20’s and early 30’s is catching up with your demographic that you dated when you were early 20s.
So, it’s time for you to revise your world view and hypothesis of the maturity level of your age peers and remember that some people will always be more mature (know who they are, what they want, etc) than their peers, and some never reach these qualities even as they age. So do not sacrifice a good person for outdated dating paradigm.

You don't sound like you have the maturity to be in a relationship.
Take a break, do some therapy, figure yourself out and then date.
You are vapid and shallow to be so fixed on an age number and worrying about who will look older faster. Do this guy a favor and break up - you are not healthy enough for a relationship.

OP, the fact that this guy is only 4 years older than you should be good news, not a reason for you to question what otherwise sounds like a great relationship for you. My DH is 12 years older than I am. Obviously, that was not a dealbreaker for me. But, if I could have the exact same guy only 4 years older than me, I would take it in a heartbeat. Be grateful that you found someone with all of the characterists, experience, and maturity you say you want, who is also closer to you chronologically. It will make so many things so much easier if you guys stay together long term.
