I do not care for nicknames as "real" names. IMHO, it comes across as : "Oh, sorry, we did not realize this was just a nickname!" I think it sounds uneducated and in-self aware.
Agree. I also have a grown up friend named Molly who has always loathed her name. Says it is a dog's name and not for a serious person.
It is not a dogs name - you are just ridiculous and your friend sounds needy.

If as an adult, she likes using Molly as her name, she can. However, if she wants a name with a little more gravitas, she can go with her "real" name, and you can continue to call her by her nickname, assuming she's good with it.

Anonymous wrote:I don't have a middle name, but I think a middle name beginning with J sounds best. Someone mentioned Jade. I like it!
Anonymous wrote:I really like Molly, and I think it's completely fine as a stand alone name. I would consider family names for middle names - that's what we did with each of our three kids. She very rarely will use her full name, and I love being able to tell my kids about their namesakes.
If you don't want to do that, however, here are some names that I think flow well with Molly:
Claire
Ellen
Elise
Alexandra
Evelyn
Amelia
Grace
Joan

Middle name: Elizabeth.
Mary Elizabeth. Classic, strong, beautiful.
NN Molly.
LOVE.
PS. PP back. Maisie is also a very lovely, classic, fun nickname for Mary, if you would be interested. Also: Mamie, Polly. I love all the variations on Mary.
