That's very interesting. The only anecdote I have to share is that a neighbor got into TJ but not AOS.

AOS is definitely a harder school to get into. The classes are much harder and at a much higher level compared to aet. My daughter knows kids at her school that don’t perform as well ( getting Bs and Cs ) that have gotten into aet

That's interesting. The requirements for AET are more stringent than AOS. I assumed it was harder to get into, but maybe the applicant pool for AOS is bigger (no geometry requirement), so it's harder.

For mine it's the opposite. Only four other boys made it, that he knows of, three in just AET including himself, and two in both AOS and AET. Everyone else is either waitlisted or was rejected- around maybe 20 other boys in his group.

My child has a classmate that was offered AOS admission but not AET (not even waitlisted). In general I think your statement is true but at this point with waitlist I think it is more about capacity (spots available). With AET you can only be offered if there are seats open and it matches your top 2 choices while with AOS there is no pathway selection, so if there are spots available and you are sufficiently high on waitlist you will get in.
