A good conditioner and leave in conditioner will do wonders. You need sometging moisturizing but with silicones to smooth the cuticle. Try the Tangle Teezer brush and the Remington Tangle Tamer. The second vibrate, which sounds weird, but it worked for me when nothing else did. . About $20 on Amazon but worth i

NP - my DD is 3 and half AA/half Jewish. We did end up getting it cut and she is rocking the Annie look. I tried every recommendation listed here and nothing is going to work until she is old enough to stop messing with it, pulling out braids, twirling, etc. I don't feel bad about it at all, and it is a pretty cute haircut IMHO,

Hairdresser here:
I suspect you are using too much product.
Perhaps I missed it but did you give any more insight to your kid’s hair? I thought I saw wavy, but is it fine?
I was guessing fine, as fine hair is prone to tangle.

I’m not brand loyal, but I’ll tell you what I’m doing for my three year old with shoulder length, fine, curly/wavy hair.

I wash 2-3 times a week. We do bath every night. I wet it every time and brush with a paddle brush. I wash with babyganics ( but any gentle shampoo will do). I don’t use any other product. I’m careful to brush staring at the ends while the shampoo is in. I rinse and brush again.
I use fairy tale swim shampoo after swim class.

If I think she needs a little more slide, I’ll spray fairy tales detanglar onto my brush. I never spray directly on the hair.

Her hair shouldn’t feel sticky. That’s too much product or you’re not getting the soap out.
