Subject: Fairfax County becoming 100% blue?
"Part of the reason the GOP is afraid of Muslim voices in politics is because they can't compete with what we add to the conversation.
We're advocating for economic justice, challenging conventions of American foreign policy, and providing our unique perspectives for the public."
Curious as to what "unique perspective" he is talking about.
I know that he wants to "challenge conventions of American foreign policy"--he's made that clear in earlier comments, but, I'm not sure what other "unique perspective" he brings.
I have a neighbor originally from Iraq. He is now an American Citizen. He has a very interesting view of our Middle East policy as someone who lived through the consequences and still has family there.
I don't know about all Muslims, but there certainly is something to be said for thinking about the consequences of our foreign policy on others in those countries.
I understand that he wants to change American foreign policy (don't know how much of that you can do in the Virginia House), but he adds his "unique Muslim perspective." What does he mean by that? Why is his perspective different from that of a Jew or a Christian--or an atheist? Aside from foreign policy?
