She's either messed them up with her unreasonable paranoia that they're just as paranoid as she is, or they're definitely placating her by telling her what she wants to hear & then driving wherever they want with whomever they want.

Why do you think her little genius wanted to go off to college so early?? So he could live like a REAL teenager & stop missing out on everything.

I feel so sorry for those kids... some of the greatest bonding moments our kids had were in carpool!


And I love how she (or someone) keeps saying “why is this strange”? You REALLY don’t see why this is strange?!? 99% of kids and parents participate in carpools and drive other kids around. And yet you think what YOU are doing is normal?

Hah, yeah I had a bunch of unapproved car rides during band practice in high school.

And the rides were hardly the worst part...

Tell them your kids get easily car sick & they should bring at least 5 - 6 full size garbage bags with them, as well as enough room to store them once they're through (we can't stop every time they throw up, better to just store them in the car with you).

We'll see if they're so keen on having them after that.

OP do you doubt your parents driving ? That’s a realistic fear. And very difficult to say to them. I’ve know several people who are crazy drivers and I don’t want them driving my kids.

Well, the truth is that driving should make most of us more nervous than it does. I think OP’s focus on car safety ratings is strange — the grandparents’ driving capabilities would be the more relevant issue to me. But if I start thinking to bad about all the crazy, wreckless drivers out there, I can appreciate OP’s anxiety.
