One of my dc ate like a lumberjack at that age and he would have been completely stuffed on two slices of pizza and cake.

While I would have offered a bit more for variety sakes, I agree pizza and cake should have been sufficient. The kids were bouncing for 2 hours it’s not like they did a triathlon.

My kid never ate more than half a piece of pizza at any birthday party. Most kids would eat a new piece. I rarely saw them finish a slice of cake. Sounds like OP’s kid eats a lot more than an average 3 yr old. Don’t blame others for that. Do something about it yourself.

and here is how obesity epidemic stars... OP's is clearly having a three year old who is wolfing down 2 pizza slices and a cake and is still hungry, OP wants her kid to have more food...she probably stopped after at a fast food place to feed her cookie monster, then he was sugar high and whining and she got his ice cream too. By dinner time his sugar spiked so high, he was screaming and only chicken nuggets and brownies and would calm him down, and before falling asleep he needed some milk, so she gave him some. By morning he was famished, and had sugary breakfast...Then she posts some ridiculous update about pizza being enough. Yes, this is my version of the story, fully fictional for OP's kid, but I would bet pretty standard for most average American families.
Sadly even for rich and educated ones. I'll make sure to serve macaroons at the next 3 year old party so OP won't judge me....

No, many were jumping. The kids were little.

Why won't you answer the questions about why your son was still hungry?

I meant he was starving going into the party room. It was lunch time and he had been bouncing for an hour. They only offered pizza. About 2 slices per person.

I just meant that AT lunchtime AFTER bouncing, just pizza isn't sufficient.

This thread disagrees. But tomorrow, someone will bash an OP for saying she'll only serve pizza.

You never know how the wind will blow on DCUM...

A 3 year old was still hungry after 2 slices of pizza AND cake??? Really?
If your kid eats more than most adults, it’s on you to plan around that.

I'm unclear on what the problem with being starving when it was time for food was... isn't that the point? Is the problem that 2 slices + cake wasn't enough or your three year old? If that's the case, do you feed him enough breakfast?? And if you knew it wasn't enough, couldn't you just give him some your allotted 2 slices and go a little hungry yourself?

It was a trampoline park per the OP, not a bounce house. Plenty of adults jumping at trampoline parks.

I love to jump at trampoline places! I have no hang ups about having a good time and having fun.

On to the main question: I think Pizza (and cake) are enough, as long as there is plenty of pizza. Also, as kids get older they eat more-- much more! So sometimes I think people don't realize how much more the kids are eating this year vs. last year and under order. Not a big deal. I will never eat until all the kids are stuffed.

Your child is invited to a trampoline birthday party and you waltz in there and start jumping???

Yep, I just waltz into a public venue and jump. The horror!

What's the word where you are embarrassed and cringing for someone else, but they cluelessly feel no shame at all?

I think the word you are looking for yourself is, insecure. Plenty of adults jump. It's not shameful.

I am very glad I'm not friends with any of you IRL because you are all a bunch of boring, pearl clutching people.

It's not the actual jumping many people have the problem with. It's the fact that it's usually a pay-per-head kind of thing, or an age-limit kind of thing, and the clueless parents who are rolling in and bouncing without either paying or checking on the age-limit are obnoxious.

This. It’s one thing if you decide to take Larlo to Rockin Jump one Saturday and you bounce together. It’s a different situation when Larlo is invited to Larla’s birthday party and Larlo’s mom decides it’s an opportunity for her to jump as well. Because Larla’s parents have to pay for that and Larlo’s mom is not the invited guest.

Those trampoline places usually don’t allow you to bring in outside food, besides the cake. You’re limited to the pizza that they provide.

OP, rule #1 is "don't take your kid to a birthday party hungry."

Do you people really get party invites and think, "Great! FREE DINNER!"

Wow.

It's a party. Not a sit-down formal dinner. Some people have tons of food, some have just cake. NBD. It's a party, not a meal. Plan your day accordingly.
