I also haven’t seen Gone with the Wind or Charlie Chaplin movies. I recognize these names (and basic plots) as historical cultural references.

I’m 38 and I’ve seen it several times. The Godfather Saga is interesting because it puts it in chronological order. DH is 42 and loves the movies.

I’ve only really half-watched III, when it’s on AMC or whatever and I’m doing some household chore.

A) if godfather I and II are on every list of best movies of all time, you should see them. Even if you aren’t Italian or from the NY area (of which I am both and of course I’ve seen both a million times).

B) re: Cazale - if you haven’t seen Dog Day Afternoon or Deer Hunter, you are not a film fan. Ditto Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, for that matter. Spend a weekend watching good, quality filmmaking. Those were some truly magical years.

I’m a II person.

We are Jewish and are going to be honorary godparents for our friends’ daughter. DH now wants to be called “Godfather” and have his knuckles kissed by all.
