OP--she is not driving yet, so we HAVE to take her.

I think that if you choose to live where your kid has to be driven anywhere, you can't then be angry at your kid for asking to be driven.

OP--The demanding tone s addressed almost every week. We went grocery shopping this past weekend and when asked: "do you need anything?", the answer was a "no, I am good." There is no "thought ahead" unfortunately.

That's sweet she gave you some! My daughter only made valentines for her friends this year.

OP, I think getting things at the store isn't a problem, if your DH has time. I think you should teach her that such help should be reciprocal when you live with people. So, sometimes you can ask her to pick some last-minute things up at the grocery store, and pay her back for them. Doing things for her with love should lead to her doing things for you in the same way, over time.

Does she have a car? Why can't she go herself?
