Same to our close friend’s son. They knew what they were to him and weren’t having it.

Same here for our son who had stats way above their average. Upon deferral, they ask the student to reiterate interest (and they urge you to visit); they are very clear that if you fail to do so, you have virtually no chance of getting in RD. My son had lost interest by that point since he was admitted to other places he preferred EA, so he didn’t reiterate interest and he will be rejected.

Seems to me that Tulane is playing a ludicrous game very well. Along with other “rising” schools in a similar boat, they are offering lots of merit aid while doing anything possible to protect their yield.

Where did you learn to write? Yikes.

On dcum. My fourth language, so don't care.

Maybe you shouldn’t be talking trash about excellent colleges.

If it is so excellent, what's with the advertising and e-mails? Plus, just bcs it is not my first language doesn't mean that I am not educated and know plenty about good colleges. When you start reading Latin like I do, give me a call.

It's all a game to drive up their ED applications.

My DC gave it a hard NO based on the climate alone.

Every school says this every year. Because what else are they going to say?

I applied to college 30 years ago. They were saying it back then as well.

I disagree.

Tulane has a message to tell and they want it to resonate with their perspective students. DD showed genuine interest and was accepted with generous merit. We visited and ultimately decided it was too far from home but in our experiences Tulane did a lot right. They have strong messaging around community and giving back. That’s a nice message for young people to hear these days.

She definitely did not show sufficient interest directly to Tulane but is somewhat obsessed by their incredible service culture. Since she has been accepted to JMU Honors and UVA, she would need a very compelling offer to convince us to pay for Tulane if she was even to be accepted, which appears unlikely given the admission stats. Congrats to those accepted!

Congratulations to your daughter. I am sure she will bloom where ever she decides upon attending. We toured Tulane last year and the school has a lot of pride and my daughter was also interested in their service offerings, but she would have been completely uncomfortable that far from home. Things have a way of working out.
