I was in my 20’s doing the New York thing 2000-2008.
That show was like watching a terrifying docudrama on what could happen to you if you don’t grow up.
Nothing depressed me more than sex and the city.
Tell us more! Did you also sleep around while changing designer outfits three times a day??![]()
Anyone who would move to a ridiculously expensive city without a plan and/or just to find a man is an idiot.

A clique of childless, bored, purposeless 30-something yentas gossiping about the next hookup, a hot party, a great brunch. It successfully brainwashed a lot of young women – who chased those hollow thrills and ended up married to men they can't stand and spending big money on IVF. "Sorry you don't have siblings, sweetie, mummy wanted to be Carrie Bradshaw in her 20s and 30s."
I remember reading blogs and articles about women who moved to NYC thinking they were going to live the SATC lifestyle, be fabulous and marry a Big, only to throw in the towel and leave because it was way too expensive or if they stuck it out remained single because a Big or anyone else never wanted to marry them, or they ended up in debt.

Yes, and it's easy to judge SATC in hindsight. At the time, everything made sense and we wanted to be one or all of them.
I don't think the idea of the show was ever supposed to be that we want to be them. It was really (originally) supposed to be vignettes about the awkward realities of modern dating and sex.
