We only run it every other day, sometimes every third day. Family of 5, only one of whom takes a lunch to school. SAHM who cooks a lot from scratch, but I hand wash all pots, pans, cutting boards, and plastics.

Family of 6. Run dishwasher if there are a lot of dirty dishes. Otherwise, wash them....and put them back in the dishwasher.

3 people, 1x per day. Not that we generate enough dishes for 2 loads but our dishwasher has a long cycle (2 hours) so if we ran it 2x per day it would be running for 4 hours a day which would mean dishes would pile up in the sink.

Me again. Are you using a different cup every time you get a drink of water? I'm just trying to figure out how you can possibly generate so many dishes.

Are you people who are running it twice a day waiting until it's full?

Family of four, we do once every 2-3 days. I handwash pots, but we put our tupper ware in it.

Same. Usually 1x, but every few days 2xs. For the record, I cook nearly all meals at home (never carry out and rarely dining out) and both Dh and I work from home.

Family of 6. Dishwasher is run every night. Anything that doesn't fit gets hand washed. Kids empty it every morning before school. We eat most meals at home and kids pack lunch for school. Between the dishes from breakfast, after school snacks, dinner and meal prep the dishwasher is full without any pot/pans.

We have solar hot water and a super-efficient dishwasher -- I guarantee you running it is way more eco-friendly than washing by hand.

When we were a family of four (two sons), it was 6 times a week. Generally we didnt have enough for a load on Friday night as we had takeout pizza.

Now that we are empty nester, we run is about every other day, sometimes just twice a weekday it isn’t always completely full.
