How long was her mat leave. I do know someone who cheated on her mat leave but she was off for 6 months

Yes. At least it was standard procedure to check all patients for STDs when I was pregnant.

I can't imagine an exhausted woman who is recovering from childbirth and taking care of a newborn 24/7 cheating on her husband. That just does not seem likely at all.

FYI, they usually don’t test for herpes unless you ask specifically, and it can be dormant for a long time. If you test positive for gonorrhea and you haven’t slept with anyone then it’s a different story!

No. It would be positive. Just not breaking out in sores. Millions of people have it but it is dormant and they never have a breakout.

DP - think about the answer to your own question.....one person can be faithful but still have concerns about his/her partner......of courses in DCUM land, the woman can never be wrong and if she cheats, she must have had a good reason b/c her DH/BF deserved it, right?

Wait for the results first & if they are not favorable, then perhaps ask your M.D. this question.

Unlikely cheating during the maternity leave. More likely to be something (like the HPV previously mentioned) that flared during the baby making time. If you used protection before, but then stopped to make the baby, that is probably when you were infected. Without knowing WHAT it is, it's hard to know. Were you tested after she was pregnant before now? Or was your last test years ago? She could have had something for years or she could have cheated after you were married but before she got pregnant. You haven't given enough details to tell.

Unfortunately, the vaccine was not available to men until only recently. We will have a generation of men (and some women) with HPV-related throat cancer. I hope I'm not one of them

Ok, re the man who did of HPV throat cancer - stop blaming his wife. HPV takes DECADES to develop into throat cancer. He could have gotten it from someone in high school. If you want to protect yourself from HPV, get the vaccine.
