I'd say usually she is his best friend. But he isn't hers.

Me too. Definitely haven't had a best friend since elementary school so my partner is by default my best friend because I simply don't have other friends that even come close in the intimacy level. No one knows as much about me, about my secrets, about all the things I think during the day as he does. And there is no one else I can be as authentically myself with.

I moved a lot as a child and we've moved a lot as a married couple so I've never had that life long friend. DH and I have been together over 35 years and we have a great marriage. i have a lot of GF's but not one that I can rely on as I can with my DH.

yes and yes... I feel the most comfortable with him, and I feel like I can tell him anything with zero judgement. I think he feels the same.

You think they are - until you really need them. For me my ex-wife left when it wasn’t beneficial to her. Fellas, you fall in hard times and need someone to support you, call you friends or your dad. Your wife is only willing to stick it out if it benefits her.
