OP here. I go to both the Reston and Sterling stores.
Anonymous wrote:It would be nice if they would add some seating into the new design. My kids used to love to sit and have a popcorn and a slushee sitting at the garden section tables while I shopped nearby. Adding those in throughout the store would be nice. Pregnant women always need to sit for a bit, sometimes a kid wants to sit and read or someone wants to text home or work.

I, for one, hope they do not add seating everywhere. What a potential nightmare of bums napping and teens languishing. Been pregnant myself plenty of times and never needed to sit unexpectedly. I don't think that's normal.

And also, isn't there already seating in the Starbucks / cafe area?

The tables & chairsi & benches I n the garden section are unsold merchandise, btw, not free-for-all alternative public seating for those not wanting to sit in the cafe . I doubt either the store or the potential/future owners want your kids having popcorn & slushees (!!!) on them!
This is probably why they were removed. Too much crushed popcorn and spilled slushee ruining the merchandise and making the floor gross. If you need to eat do it in the eating area, not at tables and chairs that are for sale.

Anonymous wrote:I'm glad to see this thread. I thought I was just being old and grumpy about the redesign. Count me in as another one who dislikes it. If their plan was to have us wander through the store and buy more, it isn't working for me. I find I go there much less now.
Anonymous wrote:Maybe Target is trying out the Costco strategy of displaying items in such a way that you’re forced to browse and, therefore, find items you didn’t even know you needed.
Anonymous wrote:Parts of it remind me of Kohl's. You're looking at clothes, but suddenly here are a few toys on display. When I go to Target, I want the toys to all be organized neatly in their own aisles.
Anonymous wrote:I think Target is damned if they do, damned if they don't. They have to continually reinvent themselves to get shoppers a reason to physically go into their stores. They are becoming more like department stores with shops within shops and cut out areas vs the rows of goods with florescent lighting above as we've come to know department stores.

Anonymous wrote:Redesigned here in Southern California - VERY frustrating! The store used to be designed on a grid system. Nice and straightforward. Now the store feels cluttered and non-sensical.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I like it. They're upping they're game. I approve.
Upping what game? It's a big box store that's already better than walmart. They didn't need to do some HGTV redesign to it.
