Nah. Of course she’s going to ask about a text like this. Anyone would.

Anonymous wrote:Since people choose what profile pic to make for a contact in their phone, I think the picture of a young boy is weird. There are several contacts in my phone with a kid as the pic because they are the parents of friends of my kids. Otherwise, I don’t know who Larla M. is or how she’s different from Larla K.

I have no reason to hide a contact, but if I was going to, that might mislead DH that way.

That’s not entirely true. I have several contacts whose contact pictures were imported from Facebook. I’m not sure if this still happens (because they don’t automatically fill in for me anymore) but it did with an older iPhone, and every time the numbers transfer to an upgraded phone the photos stay the same.

+1 to the eye roll. Are you the pregnant woman from Off Topic who lost her mind over someone parking too close to you?

You should be able to see phone history from that phone number. Or, check the phone number history on the cell phone bill. How did this lady get his number? Remind him that we ( he + you) are not a charity. Your money should not be helping her.

Yeah I think you need to go back and have a further conversation with your husband.

Who is this friend, how often are the talking, why is he sending money, what was said during the phone call.

Be calm but he should be able to answer these questions and you really need to know these answers.

Personally, I would never end a text "my friend" with someone I was intimate with. It would be something like sweetheart or loverboy or some other goofy pet name. My friend indicates platonic friendship or even acquaintanceship. Lots of women end messages with XO and it means nothing...sort of like how lots of Americans end with "cheers" but it doesn't mean they're British. I think the people on this thread are making something out of a whole lot of nothing.

He now has added that she was a really good friend (he's also friends with her ex husband) and that she is "struggling", so he offered to send her money.

What?!?!

I'd be super calm. Wouldn't say a word to him until he's ready to lay it all out there. Stay super calm and do not cry. He's expecting you to get upset and emoitional. Don't do it.

Amen!

+1 - Never mentioned being back in contact with her or sending money before that moment, not saved in the contacts, really blank look when mentioned the text. Stay calm.

She had to be saved in contacts. Otherwise, no photo. If not in contacts, the text comes only with a number.

Anonymous wrote:Step 1: Call her and tell her you have her money and meet her and the son.

Step 2: At the meet, when you hand over the $100, give the boy a head pat and prick a hair out, Robert DiNero/Focker style.

Step 3: Run a DNA test on the boy and your DH.

Then come back and report results to DCUM for Step 4.

Well, it's better than if the individual in question was a young boy, OP. So there's that.

As for the woman... it looks as if this could develop into something, but that for the moment nothing happened. So you want to point out that whatever he said to make her respond this way was inappropriate, and that her response was inappropriate as well.
