Sleeping, TV, walking, eating out.

Welp I finished my garage clean-out and now on to the basement laundry room. I’d much rather be working and I dread the mountain of work I’ll be returning to (if I still have a job and if this shutdown ever ends). My ADHD won’t let me stop moving so it’s no vacation over here, just trying to keep my mind and body busy so I don’t have time to dwell.

It IS a nice life. Glad you are getting a taste of it.

NP and this experience is demonstrating that SAHP is not really for me.

Oh, I learned that one in 2013 when my oldest was not quite 3 and daycare was in my fed building so it made no sense to commute downtown just to bring her there. But I also recognized that if I were an actual SAHP I would have classes for her, other parents and kids to meet up with at playgrounds and for activities and such. Just being randomly tossed into it with no existing structure and not knowing if you were going to get paid so not wanting to spend money was not the same as being a regular SAHP.

I am. My Facebook status from the first day back after the 2013 shutdown popped up as a memory today to the effect of “holy crap, the piles of work”.

Definitely NOT a vacation. A stressful uncertain time I am working to fill with home projects to distract myself.

Same here, and DH too. I'm tired. If they're going to try to weasel out of backpay anyway I'd rather just be furloughed.

If you work, you should receive back pay.

The law says that everyone should receive back pay, which the Trump admin has already signaled they intend not to follow. What’s to stop them from taking that further and refuse to pay someone who worked throughout the shutdown at what he defines as a “Democrat” agency (whatever the F that means). I don’t trust any of these people.

Applying for jobs and networking like crazy so I don't have to go back to my hellish workplace with so-called leadership who don't go to bat for the employees and are cowardly and morally defunct

I got furloughed late, so this is only day 4 of furlough for me.
I’ve run some errands, read, caught up on some tv, voted (VA), did some vacation planning for next summer (but not booking yet), had lunch with other furloughed friends, and dealt with a bunch of kid related stuff.
Today I’m making a sign for Saturday’s protests and doing some cleanup around the house.
I should be doing more extensive cleaning and yard work, but I’m so stressed and frustrated it’s hard to be motivated. I know I just listed a bunch of stuff that sounds fun and relaxing, but it’s really not.

Still working but my husband is furloughed. He's organized the garage, cleaned out the cars, installed new car seats, followed up on some medical appointments that needed to be scheduled, has applied to multiple jobs with an interview next week, we are prepping to build shelving and do some house projects. Tomorrow he is taking our eldest for an outing since school is closed and then theyll do errands and yard work. There are enough house projects and school/daycare closures to keep him busy.
Regardless of all these "projects" and "time off", there's work to do and deadlines to meet and I know that I wont be getting much partnership from him once the government re-opens because they will have to do all of the work that wasnt being done.

Sleeping in (vs my usual 4:30am wake-up), but this is also after I’ve been awake for 2 hours at 1am wondering how I’m going to pay bills if this goes on too much longer.

Some cleaning out and organizing.

Taking my dog for long mid-day walks, enjoying the start of fall colors.

Watching some TV shows I’ve had on my list for awhile.
