Not for dating, but casual fling is fine.

All this negativity and I get it, but there is a small percentage of both men and women who are usually risk takers in white collar jobs that smoke. And when you are around these type of people you always have so much fun. I’m surprised not many people seem to recognize it. Seems like tons of people smoke downtown.

I'm 42 and would not date a smoker.

Can you think of a good reason to be addicted to any substance?

Well for 50 million I could do it. Bonus points if he dies early from smoking and I inherit everything and remarry.

+1

At forty, if the person smokes they likely look fifty.

It is truly gross to see any middle-aged person smoke.

It makes them truly just UGLY.

It is no longer the forties/fifties where cigarettes made one look sexy + sophisticated.

in my 20's I had done the social smoker thing, so when I met my husband I decided it wasn't a deal breaker for me.

He always talked about quitting, first it was gonna happen when we got married, then when we had our child. Happy to report he has finally kicked the habit- though it took till after the babies first birthday, but still, happy to see him meet his goal and glad I didn't let it keep me from the love of my life!

I guess in this scenario you are assuming s/he hasn't given you any health issues with secondhand smoke?

This. I don't like it but I have put up with it for the right kind of woman.

I would never date a smoker. And please, vaping is just as bad and actually looks dumber than cigarettes.

Social or occasional smoker? I'd be ok with it. I did the social smoking thing for a long time. But I've never been able to date a "real" smoker because you can taste it when you kiss them. Plus it never really comes out of their hair and clothes and their home.

For any crowd it's a dealbreaker for me. Absolutely disgusting addiction that I don't need to suffer from (secondhand smoke and getting all my stuff stinky).
