Who cares if the kid can figure it or not.
It's a different issue. The issue is OP was asked a favor. She can choose to do it or not based on her circumstances and friendship with this woman.
What should not come into play in the decision making is what she thinks some other person's kid should or should not be able to do.

The buses display bus numbers. And generally line up in the same order. This was true even in the days of the Late Pleistocene North American megafauna, when I went to middle school/high school.

OP, as someone born and raised in a major city, I assure you figuring out how to board a bus doesn't require an Mensa membership.
