And oh, by the way, they are building more homes/apartments/condos/townhomes, so there will be more kids in overcrowded or needy schools and more traffic on the congested roadways. Until these 2 items are fixed (infrastructure), no big business will be moving to Montgomery County.
Geez, businesses are not going to pause over overcrowded schools. MOCO is actually known for its good schools. The biggest business killer is the ridiculously strict regulations that we have. Who is going to be better for business?
Floreen will be better for business.

Have you talked to current MCPS parents?? Been to the MCPS forum?
MoCo USED to be known for it’s good schools. Not anymore. Not by a long shot. MCPS is pure ‘moco’. (Ask a Latino friend if you need translation.)

I want businesses to locate here. I want younger people to want to move here. I want the tax base to increase. I want a county executive who will be able to work with other leaders, not alienate them. Elrich is not the right person.
Yeah, this
Elrich built his career by being on the far left and building up an anti business reputation. Good enough for council but not moderate enough for county exec
Yeah - all of the business owners are anti Elrich because they are afraid of a $15 minimum wage. It’s that simple. Businesses will always be here because there’s a lot of money here, they just want more for themselves. Too bad - buck up!!
Even amazon is bowing to political pressure and is offering their lowest level workers higher wages. You shouldn’t be working full time and still need food stamps , utility assistance and Medicaid. That’s called businesses living off the dole!
When one county tells businesses too bad!" and the counties next door tell businesses "how can we help?" you're gonna get some problems
No one is going to head to Frederick or PG county by choice and DC is phasing in a $15/hour minimum (and the sky has not fallen) . As long as they don’t turn MoCo into Crystal City with its hideous sky scrapers everywhere (which Floreen tries to do to Bethesda every waking second she has) MoCo will thrive .
Not having decent schools, non clogged roads, parks & Rec and endless high rises looming over your neighborhood without appropriate infrastructure (community center, ball fields for games & practices, parks to walk dog, unclogged roads, schools) is what will drive people away to other towns. Paying for goods and services is something that people can do here. I mean we already pay these absurd recordation taxes, high real estate taxes, MoCo piggy back tax state taxes and a 6% sales tax - and the govt still wants more? Where does it go???
Thousands and thousands of dollars goes to the government from each person and people aren’t happy with what the government DOES with the money.
But you think that paying people $15/hour is going to ruin the economy? That’s entirely the perspective of a business owner that wants to pay his/her employees a very low wage. You are worried about your profit. But you know what? If you can’t do it and you go under someone else will come in and do it better.
If I were a business owner I’d be less worried about paying a semi decent wage and more worried about our backwards liquor laws . Those are ridiculous and anti business but many are still in place. Montgomery county literally hounds, fines , fees and regulates businesses to death (and we citizens pay for them to do so with our taxes) which should worry you more.

No, a $15 minimum wage was Elrich kow-towing to unions. It's not good for business or for the people of MoCo. The low-skilled jobs that can be moved to Frederick (which has lower minimum wage) will be moved there. Meanwhile, 20 year olds in MoCo will be unable to find entry-level jobs since their lack of skills means they aren't worth $15/hour, but would be worth $12/hr.
If Elrich really wanted to help to ensure families earn a living wage, he would have just increased the existing Earned Income Tax Credit. That looks at family size and total family income, and gives a credit if you don't earn enough.
Instead, now we'll see people with good full-time jobs during the week earning $15/hour for their weekend holiday job at Macy's to earn spending money for Christmas. This isn't helping the working poor.

Different poster here. I am surprised so many people voted for term limits. I thought we were a more educated county than that. You now have gotten rid of the ability of truly good policy makers to stay longer. If you think they are bad, vote them out. But if they are good, keep them. The good ones are few and far between.
The term limits are 12 years. That's more than enough time for people to get in and affect change. It shouldn't be a lifetime position.
