Didn’t occur to me; I was attracted to teachers, artists, etc.
I ended up marrying a lawyer who left a big firm to become a fed, and it’s been a good choice for our family.

No, I didn’t prioritize it. Turned out, I married someone with millions, but how do you define high status?

I fell in love with a guy who is very sweet and kind, a perfect gentleman. He also happens to be very wealthy which I did not realize until much later. Been together 30 yrs at this point. DH retired early. Very happy. Nice not having to worry about $$$ especially education for our kid and retirement.

OP, the biggest problem is with your assumption that “high status” men can’t be good husbands and/or loving fathers. You married for your own reasons and you are happy, so be content. Don’t try to justify your decision by thinking that wealthy men are jerks anyway, because that’s not true. There are jerks at every income level and believe me the low income jerks are much difficult to tolerate compared to high income jerks.

I prioritized both, and got both. But I grew up LMC and was just going for UMC, not super rich so it wasn’t that hard. I married a law student.

Despite their differences, women around the world share one common trait: They all want a man's money.

That's a very male POV from someone who has been taken advantage of which is not uncommon but not the norm. I was young and not dumb (Ivy MBA) but I married for love though I recognize that the guys I was meeting had potential. The guy I married had no money or status but he had potential as did I. He was a very bright, good looking guy and the sex was great. But at the time there was no money or status.

I'm glad he's rich but I am sexually unfulfilled. We've talked but I am afraid I will have to go outside our marriage to have my womanly needs fulfilled.
