More pressure than many of the base schools. Less pressure than the highly selective magnets and the tip top privates. Woodson has the Rep of being the worse FCPS in terms of pressure though (besides TJ). Not sure that’s a good thing though.
if you are ta TJ and it doesn’t work for you, you can drop back at any time. Not so for base schools.

It is not a pressure cooker for everyone. Certain kids don't finish the work and it's OK. There are those who get credit for completing work and they get full credit for completion while others don't. Certain kids take multiple retakes of exams until they score perfect while others don't.

As someone who has taught and tutored private school kids, I think families really overestimate how many children receive tutoring. A lot of the rumors start from students, who are not reliable narrators. Perception is not reality.

BASIS. Middle school students have final exams they must pass in order to advance to the next grade. Mandatory AP courses start in the 9th grade. Students take three science courses at the same time, and the typical math trajectory is to complete through BC calculus by the end of senior year. One hour of math hw per night is expected in addition to the other subjects students may have. Students do not get the 45 or 55-minute study halls that students at other schools often have during the day, and their school day is longer. IMO it’s not a great fit for a lot of kids.
