I can't remember when (at what month we did it) but we called him and had an initial appointment and then came back to have the procedure done. It was in the out patient office in Shady Grove. I think I had a 100 or 200 copay with my insurance (It is the outpatient surgery copay) It was reassuring knowing not only that he a pediatric surgeon but also a mohel (so an expert). We had to push things back for some time because my son had extra fat down there but everything went well. With our second son, we had the procedure done in the hospital by our OB and the recovery time was similar. No major main/discomfort and everything was completely back to normal within a few days. Good luck.

Immediately after the baby's born you schedule a preliminary visit with his office (usually occurs about a month after birth); at that screening they schedule you for the circ one week later; then there's a post-circ check-up a week after that. He uses a local anesthetic and needs the baby in before the 2-month mark (after which I believe he's required to use general anesthetic).
I think he's in the $600 range but am not entirely sure, as ours is covered by insurance (BCBS).
