Some left for Loudoun already. I’d expect others to sample at Loudoun, Metro United, and other nearby ECNL/DA options for the older kids.

I can't find Metro United is that another name for Washington Spirit now?

WS VA DA will break away from WS and be rebranded as Metro United. Still using fields and infrastructure of GFR but with current WS coaches and technical support. Haters will say it's now GFR Elite (and GFR indeed is not elite) but unless they get all new players who all come from GFR, that's a silly argument. Doesn't mean it's a great place to play, but it IS not in Springfield.

I think the complaint is the timing. Do this a month ago, people can look for other options. Do this 6 months from now to take effect the following year, same. Doing it precisely at this time, when many of the other options they might like to explore are already up and gone, well, I can totally see why people are upset.

DA tryouts are pretty much done. Most ECNL clubs are done or maybe have one ID session left. For FCV, less impact at the 2008 and lower age groups as they don't really have that many players anyway.... it's not like there are players on 5 levels deep teams that may all have to find new homes. But it may meant that FCV is not an attractive option in Loudoun anymore and the players on the existing teams disperse.

My kids aged out of youth soccer a few years back. So, I am a few years out of touch. What led to the crumbling of FCV so fast, or are these posts exaggerating the situation?

Take a look at the GDA standings. FCV is the strongest girls club in the area - and it isn't even close.

And their owner is tired of youth soccer so he sold it to the only idiots that would buy it.

It must have been something. Like them or not, it was very sh*tty to do to kids who have no options for comparable teams with tryouts for DA/ECNL over everywhere else.

and practices will stay in Loudoun..until they don't and the price goes up.
I feel bad for the FCV parents and certainly wouldn't want to join.
I could make the commute to Springfield, but I'd certainly wait a while until this all works itself out.

When you say the price is staying the same, you just mean the DA fees.

You are leaving out the extra $$ spent on gas, tolls, etc.

Plus the cost of your time. How much do you value 2 hours of your time each day? Time that will now be spent in traffic.
