There UVA has placed 1, 2 or 3 for 27 years, always ahead of Michigan. This year it is 3 behind Berkeley and UCLA. You simply cannot compare a huge public university like UCLA to a small SLAC like Williams.
Let me just say that it is ridiculous to have UCLA ranked above Berkeley.
On Niche, UVA is at no. 2 with UCLA at no. 3 best public university. https://www.niche.com/colleges/search/top-public-universities/
And Michigan #1 but you can't say that on this forum. . .

Emory, yes.
What exactly is vandy’s Value prop?
SEC
Vandy is in what is now a trendy city and has used merit aid and a focus on standardized tests to greatly increase perceived selectivity. If you look at standardized tests, they are well above UVA and W&M and they used to be below. They essentially have done what Duke did years ago and Chicago did more recently.
Huh? Vandy has always been very prestigious. Not Duke level, but close.

Well, USNews has had to place some in buckets that don't fit too well. Dartmouth College, Wake, College of W&M for instance end up in National Universities while University of Richmond ends up in LAC.
US news doesn’t do the placements, idiot. They simply follow the Carnegie classifications.

Hard to believe UVA couldn’t crack the Top 50 in the WSJ/THE rankings.
There’s only one R in Wake Forest

Don't. This is WSJ's third year only. No one in higher education recognizes it yet. USN&WR has been around since 1983 and it remains the gold standard. Inbetween USN&WR there are Princeton Review, Kiplinger's, Business Insider, and many others. WSJ is just trying to break into the field to make a buck.
