Look at MD-6 -- it stretches from Bethesda to Cumberland and the West Virginia border -- a 3-hour drive. That was done to bring in more Dem voters in MoCo to kick out the Republican in the panhandle of MD.

Can you be more specific? MD was the first state in the country to legalize gay marriage at the ballot box.

It's funny that everyone here hates the Kerwin commission, when mccpta who represents PTA and parents are for the Kerwin commission. Hogan has cut funds to mcps time and time again (sometimes the Democratic legislature has been able to get some back). He doesn't believe in equal rights for homosexuals. He believes in less government, except when it comes to women's bodies. And remember that redistricting happens in 2020.

I'm hoping people will come to their senses, Hogan is not good for Maryland. Hogan is good for wealthy white men. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.

My friend have you not read any of the prior posts? You can also go online to read the report. The commission will take funds from MoCo, Howard an another county to redistribute educational funds to Baltimore, Carroll county and other poorer counties. This in turn will cause major deficits for those of us up here and our children in the public system.

OP you just cherry picked out pieces of this. As a whole the interview makes clear he is no Trump fan, that he focuses on doing what is best for MD which is his job and that he has in various ways disagreed with the president.

I am a moderate Dem, can’t stand the President, voted for Hogan the first time around and would do so in a heartbeat again. If you are pretty a progressive Dem you won’t ever like him but there actually are lots of moderates Dems in the state too - as evidenced by his election the first time.

Up until this morning, I was set to cast my vote in November for Gov. Larry Hogan. That is, until I read this interview Hogan gave to the NYT.

This article only solidifies why I will be voting for Hogan. He is placing the wants and needs of Marylanders first. He does not want to waste time being consume about Trump and other issues in Washington that have nothing to do with Maryland. I am glad that he takes the high road instead of drowning into divisive politics like other politicians. Our state needs someone who has the ability to work down both sides of the aisle without loosing focus on what really matters to Marylanders. Hogan is not going to allow Democrat or Republican extremists to inject him with their division. This is what I like about him.

I think we're going to see a wave of cross party candidates (Republicans in blue states and Democrats in red states) winning the elections as the country starts swinging back towards the middle. And I think that Jealous has no chance of winning MD.


I agree, and I am a. Democrat. Jealous seems entirely unaware of the constraints of governing in a state that already among the highest taxed in the country.
