Cosleeping with a newborn is dangerous. Do not do this.
Just get a cheap crib or bassinet
Co-sleeping is safe if done right.
OP here. As healthcare professionals, we know the science, and co-sleeping is not safe. Our child will only sleep in a crib or bassinet. We aren’t against many things, but feel very strongly about the risk of co-sleeping.
Ha! experts with no real experience. Let's see what happens when the baby arrives and won't sleep by themselves!
No baby wants to sleep in a bassinet or crib. You have to train them to do so. And I am speaking from experience. If OP hi is co sleeping is dangerous, they will train baby to sleep in crib. It’s not easy and yes I have two kids.

Sure thing, kiddo. Your kid will definitely be the special one who likes sleeping in a crib and never in a parent’s arms or a swing. Guess your wife isn’t the only unrealistic one.

Anonymous wrote:OP, this is a money issue beyond the baby. You can spend and endless amount on kids, too, as well as vacations, decorating a home, cars, etc. You guys need to have a talk about budgeting and priorities.
Have you ever met with a financial planner? Maybe now that you are starting a family you could get some professional advice on how much you should be saving vs. spending (and involving a professional saves you from being "the bad guy"). Then work out what your known, "fixed" expenses are (mortgage, utilities, groceries, etc) and then you will see what is left for other stuff. You guys will have to compromise and agree.
