We use words like "honor," "code," "loyalty." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line.
I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it.
I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand the post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think you're entitled to!

YOU"RE DAMN RIGHT I ORDERED THE CODE RED!
Santiago, while a nice player was a danger to his team and their moral. He was late so we had him killed so that other players would not be late.
Did you order the code red?

This wasn't about the character of being consistently late person (OP didn't ask for that). It wasn't about being too self-important to be on time (OP didn't ask for that). It wasn't about being habitually late (OP didn’t suggest that either).
This was a simple question about traffic and the potential for issues--what to do if there is some unexpected traffic issue? A wreck, a motorcade, a broken subway line (like this morning). Anyone here who thinks traffic on a 20+ minute drive is completely predictable is just full of crap.
OP, if there is some major issue with traffic it is likely that several other players will be late too. Text the coach and let them now. Coaches are more than likely going to understand if it is actually out of your control. If you are a consistently late person than you need to adjust, out of respect for your coach and teammates.
If you have a team with a coach who doesn't understand the occasional one-off or parents like some of these posters, find another team. Seriously--these other parents are going to burn out their kids to the point they'll hate the game and be excited one day if they make the JV of an NAIA team. Avoid them for your sanity, and more importantly, for your kid's well-being.
Seriously people--stop posting your own internal insecurities and rants in response to a simple fricking question about traffic.

Wow, a person starts the post with a profanity and then start lecturing everyone about proper etiquette, insecurities and rants! LoL

We as a society want our kids to be better than we are as people. so either your with us or get out of the way!!

If your kid plays rec, you can talk to the coach if you expect that your kid will routinely be late to practices. It is not great, but most rec coaches will accommodate you since rec soccer is supposed to be about having fun. If your kid plays travel on a good team, he/she would be competing for playing time. If there are two equally skilled players, but one is early to every practice and the other one is chronically late, I would expect that the first kid would get more playing time, if the coach is any good.
