And to all of you implying that we are looking for rides for our kids if we carpool, stop. We carpool to parties but it’s the same kids that we carpool to sports practices. They are friends and frequently invited to the same birthdays. Sometimes one isn’t for whatever reason so it’s awkward if the list is hidden. You don’t want to assume everyone is going. I’m not contacting random people asking for rides. It’s more like, you are taking them to the Tues and Thurs practice, I’ll drive to the Sat party since it’s 45 min each way.

Obviously we are different because I can’t imagine.... sorry

Everyone? Always. Obviously we different because I can’t inag not carpooling. Parties are usually 30-45 min away at Zava Zone, Earth Treks or one of the laser tag/trampoline places. The other sibling or siblings always have a game at the same time in the opposite direction.

Parents are always driving to birthdays and travel sports. Haven’t you learned that yet from DCUM? At least we help each other out with carpooling.

+1 I've only carpooled if it was urgent. My spouse travels a lot, and don't see that as an excuse unless DC is really close to the bday child and I have a critical conflict. Asking others routinely to shoulder our responsibility seems rude to me. Twice I've said DC would like to come but I can't get there in time for the start or pick up. In those cases, the host helped work something out (e.g. One Said it was ok to arrive later, another offered to drive (DH was working and I had recent surgery)). If neither offered a solution, I would've been fine and wouldn't begrudge them.

Of course. But sometimes we need a carpool.

I hide our guest list for these reasons:

Inevitably I find out when sending it that someone's email is missing from the class list. I don't want to then add them later and have it feel like a slight.

We invite a lot of people because kid's birthday is July fourth and I felt like it would look bad to see a bunch of declines since so many people travel around that time.

We are disorganized and add people we think of after the evite goes out.
