The parent groups are largely insular. The kids are expected to be high performing. Their behavior outside of grades seems largely ignored, particularly for the boys. I’m sure many kids are lovely. But many have significant issues. Drugs and theft are prevalent.
I have heard about discipline problems from Asian students (yes particularly boys) in Clarksburg schools too ! Has this got anything to do with parents giving undue importance to the male child (which used to be prevalent in the Asian culture) and cutting them too much slack?
Which Asian culture?
Pretty much all of them.

Indeed, as you say, there are many different cultures in Asia. There is no such thing as "the Asian culture".
There is kind of, just like there is such a thing as "western culture". And the ^PP was talking about how Asian cultures value boys over girls, and that is pretty true across all Asian cultures, though that is changing.

Not OP... I don't find OP's post insulting to the "different cultures". He/she is wondering what the atmosphere in W schools is like in terms of hyper-competitiveness. That doesn't mean OP doesn't value cultural diversity. Maybe OP doesn't want their DC to be in a pressure cooker environment and so is asking what it's really like in such schools.

I agree to a point -- but OP could've just asked about Wootton cluster and not brought race into it.

pp here..
I think it's because it's generally well known that schools with a lot of Asian Americans tend to be more hyper-competitive and have more over achievers. As a group, they out perform all other groups.
I think some people are being way too sensitive.
