Subject: vacuum for each floor?

My friend asked where I kept the vacuum for the basement and I told her it was upstairs on the 3rd floor. She seemed shocked that I didn't have one on each level of the house. Is this a thing people do? I never considered owning one for each floor of my house. I'm still capable of carrying a machine up and down the stairs. Granted, I don't vacuum very often since I have a weekly cleaning lady. Maybe if I did my own cleaning I could see the point.
I have a belt for each pant!

Another 3 floors, one real vacuum person here and would not think it's at all standard or typical to have multiple vacuums. But I will say that a lightweight stick vacuum has been a lifesaver for all the crumbs and stuff my kids drop all the time, so I do have that as well as our bigger vacuum but both are on the main level.

+1- I lived with just one attachment set for the first year of home ownership. It was worth the extra $$ on Ebay to buy 2 more sets for the upstairs and basement. I also have a garage kit which was pretty inexpensive to clean out the cars and garage floor. While I do have a cleaning person, she only comes every other week so I probably vacuum at least four times between her visits and it's worth my sanity to make it as easy as possible.

That just proves that you didn't know my grandmother. She had three houses, and I couldn't tell you how many vacuums she had.
With that kind of family $, why are you vacuuming at all?
Because I'm a tidy person who is too cheap to pay for full time help. It's how you STAY rich.
