The key question is : why MCPS is paying the salary of its Executive Director? Is she a MCPS employee currently?
It appears that the Saturday School has been successful in seriving the communities but its successes should not prohibit county residents asking question about its relationship with MCPS.
Those are all valid concerns. Why is MCPS paying the salary of a Private School administrator?
And according to their website, MCPS is a major funding partner so MCPS must be offering a great deal of financial support.
Considering that MCPS doesn’t even have enough money to support the schools within its system, why are they diverting funds to a private organization?

Nobody is prohibited from asking anything.
Yes, she is currently an MCPS employee. http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/directory/directory_Boxoffice.aspx?processlevel=30615
Is she related to Nancy Navarro?

DP because why is MCPS paying for a private school principal?
It's not a private school, like Georgetown Day or Sidwell Friends or whatever. Have you read anything about it? It's for students in MCPS: http://www.saturdayschool.org/about-us/ And she's not the principal, she's the executive director.
Here's is the salary schedule for principals (the MCAAP one): http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/uploadedFiles/departments/ersc/employees/pay/schedules/salary_schedule_current.pdf

The Saturday School provides additional help to students who might be struggling in some areas or might not have support at home. It's one an important initiative of MCPS to level the playing field between the wealthy and the poor and between whites and URMs in our county.
The salary is in line with the salaries of MCPS principals as it should be. Our old principal was making more than $160. And he was a total jerk who did nothing.
Is Saturday School limited to URMs? I don’t think so because my very white neighbor attends.

Barkley was a very successful principal and was promoted to the Saturday School director. Her salary is line with her step in the admin union. She makes more than some administrators, less than others.
Why would she not deserve to make as much as a principal? Do you think that she only works on Saturdays?
Bc people are questioning the connection btw her program and mcps
If you don’t understand how it’s a program supported by the school system, county & other organizations, you will question her salary.
What is connection that permits MCPS employee to run charter school?

But bc this was a grassroots effort, it gained enough momentum & partners to expand. So it’s funded by MCPS, the county, and other organizations.
The director does indeed get paid by mcps for running a program. RICA is similar in that it’s a county school funded in part by the state.
RICA is not similar to Saturday School. RICA is a public school. Saturday School is a private school.
