Where will you commute to in DC? The VRE is great for some parts. In any case, I recommend the Woodson or West Springfield pyramids.

I will bite.
OP, West Springfield HS and its feeders (Irving MS and any of the elementary schools) is a very solid choice.
It is solidly middle to upper middle class, fairly diverse and high achieving. Its minority groups consistently out perform similar minority groups at many other schools, with some of the groups (I think African American) performing on par with high achieving whites and asians. WSHS appears at least for now to have nearly eliminated the achievement gap
PP knows very little about many of the recommended schools.

Agreed. Plus I believe you are guaranteed a spot in before-care and/or after-care if you work which is a huge plus.
We Lao just completed construction at the K-2 elementary school and there is a new high school that will be built starting in 2019.

Well, it's true people will post what they know--it's hard to know the schools and commute in a particular area. If their nearby schools fit the listed criteria, they will post it as an option. I would not say it's accurate that the schools mentioned are the "whitest" schools (they range from 40-60+% minoritized populations), but it is accurate they have relatively low number of economically disadvantaged students.

I think the McLean or Marshall HS pyramids in FCPS or George Mason in FCC would be your best bets. Reasonable commutes and you won’t be priced out. All three are among the top 10 in the state.

For 900 - 1M you can get a nice house in the Madison pyramid. It will be a little father out than Arlington but you will have more land. This was our budget and we bought in Vienna because we wanted a yard and a driveway. We couldn’t find anything in Arlington that we liked for this amount. We also looked at Falls Church (George Mason High) and McLean but liked Vienna better.
