It’s a small school district with small class and fantastic schools.
You can definitely find a house in your price range and it’s highly walkable to it probably will be less of culture shock for you.

Oh how FCPS has fallen. Should we just close the other schools and squeeze all of the students into those awesome and worthy buildings?
Why are the other schools so unworthy? FCPS provides excellent resources to all of its schools. I think many of the posters on here are not real keen on the student bodies at the other schools. Hence, the next round of segregation.
OP beware, many posters on here are trying to prop up their own decisions and/or soothe their insecurities.
OP wants a commute under an hour, has a solid budget, and is looking for good schools. The fact that some of the best pyramids - those with a consistent record of student achievement- are being recommended shouldn’t surprise you. If you want to recommend some others, you ought to be able to do so without insinuating others are racist.
I would recommend any high school in FCPS or APS. Excellent resources are provided to all of these schools and excellent students graduate from all of these schools. It so happens that the ones recommended on here most often are the whitest schools around. These recommendations just feed the self-fulfilling segregation monster that we see in FCPS now.
