Subject: I can't open my glass jar of spaghetti sauce from Trader Joe's
I keep a rubber glove specifically for these occasions. I don't even cut it into a rubber band or anything, just keep it under the sink and put it on to open jars - has never failed me yet. It gives me the extra grip my tiny, soft hands lack!

Yes. Only the metal lid and not the glass jar. Metal expands when it is heated.

My jar of sauce is now opened.
(I heard years ago that Olympic athletes visualize their routines going perfectly, and that studies have proven it to work.)

Stick a prong from a fork gently under the lid and pry upwards to release the seal. Rubber floor mat could work.
