All wrong. Go read the sobbing of the rejected students on College Confidential in the UVA EA 2022 results and UVA class of 2022 RD results. STEM is doing just fine, thank you very much. The old dorms are being redone the moment students leave for the summer. The new ones look like hotel rooms. The new dorms been up and running for 3 years so I don't know what you are talking about. No one compared STEM at UVA to GMU. A UVA degree is recognized worldwide and in some rankings no. 1 amongst public universities in the United States, always ahead of Michigan. (and it's law school is no. 5 - 7 depending on source and year). It's been no. 1 ahead of UCLA and Berkeley recently. My husband, who hires engineers all the time, can attest to this. Sorry, but UVa STEM education does not have as great of a reputation as the alumni think it does.

That's because engineers coming out of UVA are managers/CEO types. They are not run-of-the-mill engineers like the kind your husband is hiring.

UVA receives only 8% of its operating fees from the Commonwealth of Virginia.

+1000. This happens on DCUM every year after the RD decisions come out. Parents and students are angry so they try to drum up some issues and post.

Uh, and neither happened on campus. One woman was out alone on the mall and looked inebriated and left with a man. The other was participating on the mall against the alt.right protest. She wasn't even a UVA student. There are 23,000 students at UVA. Two incidences over a period of what, four or five years? Out of 120,000 students? That's a pretty amazing safety record. Every single college has its horror story. My own college has some incident happen almost every year. Two men were murdered during an alcohol-infused frat. incident. Wrong to say the murders had nothing to do with the school: the victims were UVA students, they were abducted/killed from the school's college town, one of the murderers was a UVA nurse and another was UVA Lacrosse player.
