Pre-k 3 for Spanish and French are moving too...slowly. Fingers crossed.

Spanish K has finally started moving. Is anyone sure they will take or decline a spot if offeres?

How did the Carpool signup work?

I didn't hear a parent email list mentioned .

The car pool list requested the name, email address, and neighborhood of the family. I live close so I didn't pay too much attention but I'm guessing they will send something out so those in the same neighborhoods can connect.

Are folks planning on buying homes near the school?

Was there any mention of their in house kitchen? Will it be ready for fall or will they bring in meals from Brookland kitchen?

I, too, agree with the previous poster. There was great energy in the room and though I've had my fair share of concern regarding the co-location issue, they at least have a good plan. I'm looking forward to being part of this community.

I agree with the previous poster concerning excitement. I was excited before, and was glad to meet future students and parents.

I like the location, and will be sure to use the parking lot for drop-off. I believe that the frame-work will work well with the community.

Our family went. There was a nice crowd. The presentation included renderings of the final build out and status pictures (as of last week) of the construction. School community appears diverse. All of the leadership and about 50% of the teaching staff will transfer from various roles at the Brookland campus. There was an opportunity to sign up for carpools and PTA and give your thought/wishes for the school as it progresses. There was plenty of staff present to answer questions one-on-one and I participated in or overheard convos on everything from curriculum to parking and drop off.

I didn't have a lot of qualms about the school before I went and I have none now. I am excited for my DC!

Check out the Sela Parent thread... hopefully, what I posted is of some use. Sela is a good place to be even if you are waiting for something else.

Except yesterday’s, I guess, which spanned several blocks and happened mid afternoon.

We lived walking distance to where it's going to be co-located for six years. We didn't move because of violence; we moved because we were in a condo and needed more space. Now that my daughter is in, I wish I still lived over there.

What's a good neighborhood to live in for Stokes EE, east or west of river? Criteria - easy school access, good metro access, some walkability/amenities.

Potomac Avenue Metro/“Hill East”

I love Hill east but that is a 15-20 minute drive. Not that close.

If PP is looking for walkable amenities then the area around the Potomac Avenue is the closest. The amenities around Benning/East Cap leave a lot to be desired.

H Street Corridor might be doable too. Benning Road intersects with East Capitol not too far from the school, so public transportation to and from school may be an option. RFK Stadium area is good also - closer to Metro, but not as walkable. Both would be less than 10 min drive to the school, going against the bulk of traffic in the morning and evening.

I'm this PP, and we are moving to DC, so exploring options (thanks for your suggestions). As there was another PP who asked about places to live near the school, I'd share that I've narrowed my search to Hill East, and eastern edge of H St/Benning Rd (one of my littles is obsessed with the trolley and would love this); EOTR, we're looking at Deanwood, around Fort Dupont Park and Marshall Heights as suggested by another PP.
