I choose #1.
You do realize that there are multiple options that reside between these 2 pictures, right? I don't like either.

I wear high-waisted jeans because I think they are more comfortable. I can move more freely, I don't need to pull up my pants or worry about my underwear being exposed if I bend and flex.
But I wear hip length tops so no one knows I'm wearing high-waisted jeans anyhow. With high waisted jeans no one ever sees the top of my pants which I think is a much cleaner, more elegant line.
+1
I realized today that no one even knows I'm wearing high-wasted jeans because my top goes down to about mid-butt. And so my butt still looks good, and not the long butt one gets with high-wasted jeans, since it's mostly covered up. If that makes sense.

Any suggestions re: brands that are more mid-sized and would work on someone with a slim but athletic/boyish shape? I have slim hips, muscular legs and thighs, a small rear end and not much of a waist (not a lot of curves). High waisted jeans don't look good one me.
OP here. I am similar to your body type. I'm 5'4 112 pounds with a straight body type. Made well HW skinny jeans 9 inch look amazing on me.
