For what it is worth, I have heard that she is working through Central Office/DCPS, meeting with people, introducing herself, getting feedback, making herself available. Not just top brass. She is already working through lower positions. And while this is an obvious ploy to curry favor with Staff, in over a year in the position Wilson never had these types of meetings with employees at these levels.

Reading the comments from the website link someone provided, I noticed that teachers thought of Amanda's Alexander as a bully in 2010. I hope for the sake of DCPS her communication style has changed, otherwise it will be Rhee/Henderson 3.0. I'm tired of the foolishness, every week there's more "Here's how the Nation's public schools screwed up again'. It gets old seeing headers on WaPo

Dr. Alexander is smart, savvy, caring, and gets it. She has been preparing for this leadership role for many years while working FOR and WITHIN the district schools. She knows all the players and should have been given serious consideration for the job before, but there were some more senior folks ahead of her who have since left the district (seemingly saw the writing on the wall for A. Wilson and got out of Dodge). Give her a chance, go meet her, and then see for yourself. She’s a man education powerhouse and knows what she’s doing. She’s not in it for her resume; she’s the real deal and cares about DC kids and DC families.

Can we not derail the thread about looks? What is she like? Will she work with all of the key players?

Has anyone else worked with her. Can they chime in? I really want to know what she will do with the absenteeism and graduation issues.
