I have left my DH at a party more than once. I don't drink, and a lot of parties stop being fun when you're the last sober person. Plus, I know if he's had too many drinks, I'm the one getting up alone with the kids in the early morning. So, I'd tell the host "This is a lovely party, but I have to be up early tomorrow, so I'm heading home", and exit. No fight, just get in the car and drive home.

We're divorced now, but it had nothing to do with me leaving him at parties.

I have never left anyone, or been left at the airport. That seems like a whole different level of drama.

Oh no, airport parties were a "thing" and could be a LOT of fun LOL. You didn't actually fly anywhere but sort of went around in a group asking for directions, where is gate so-and-so? and that kind of thing. It was back around the time pet snakes and dancing in place were so popular. Time flies LOL!

In the situation you describe, he didn't leave you. He made a mistake and had to go home and get his passport. If he couldn't board the flight without his passport, and you didn't want to stay behind with him then you're the one that left him.

Happened to me too, he missed a mutual friend's wedding weekend, showed up with no ID. I'd say on a weekly basis my husband makes it all the way downtown to his office without his work laptop, wallet or office ID. and must come back. Can't imagine what excuse he bakes up each time, better not be about me!!!

OP that isn't LEAVING you at the airport. It sounds like you were a pretty unsympathetic partner when he realized he had made a massive mistake that would severely effect the rest of the vacation.

Never - we may have fights but he'd never leave without me.

Never after a fight, but one night only a year or two after we'd left, he disappeared from a party we were at. It was across the street from his house and having had too many margaritas on an empty stomach he'd wandered home to sober up. He hadn't told me because he'd planned on coming back.... then he'd passed out!

Oh, I'm glad we don't party like that any more.
