It isn't "breaking down" the check engine light activated. Probably is a bad gas cap, EGR valve or another cheap and easy fix.

It may only have 33k miles on it, but it is 15 years old. When you don't use it, the rubber dries out, seals and gaskets get brittle, etc.

I don't care about cars or what people think of me. Last car lasted 20 years and over 350k miles.

I wish mine would stop dead in the driveway consistently. It usually chooses to stop at the most inconvenient times like on the highway, at carpool lane pick up, when we need to be on time for something.

My 2011 CRV has 129K on it and I plan to keep it at least two more years. I am sure I *could* keep it longer though.

My 20 year old college kid is driving my 2003 Accord; it has 201K on it and is still staying strong, granted for the past 4 years it hasn't been driven much, mainly just to her friends' houses/hangouts/school, all of which are within 5 miles of our house (and she doesn't have a car on campus so it sits in the garage). I assume it will last at least until she graduates in May of 2019 at which point she'll be on her own to get it replaced. If it dies before then we'll probably get another used Accord.

Husband has a 2016 Pilot, which replaced a 2004 Pilot with 175K on it; again we didn't need to get rid of it but he wanted a new one.

My 1997 Honda Civic still runs great. Has over 200k on it and just requires maintenance. Never had a repair/maintence bill more than $400. So sick of this car but I have no reason to get a new car.

Whenever I go to my mechanic for an oil change, I see all these fancy expensive cars with transmission problems, etc while my old Civic never had any issues other than routine maintence. I park it on the street with no worries. My brother had someone crash into the side of his parked Porsche, 18k in damage, and the smuck ran off.

I plan on keeping my Civic until it dies, probably another 10 yrs.

But I have a friend who drives all over the state for work and her 2010 Acura is about to die. However, she has 180K miles on it.

Wow, that's low for it to be about ready to die. A college student we know was talking last week about how he is driving the family Toyota Land Cruiser and it has over 360K miles on it. The kicker is it still looks great and you would never know it has that many miles by looking at it. That thing is a beast.

My dad’s ‘68 VW Buy was like that. Back seat had a hole in the floor where you could see the road.

My Honda is 16 years old and only has around 100K. When I finally need a new car I won't know how to drive the newer models.
