I've only driven SUVs since 2000. Bought a minivan after 2nd baby. LOVE it. The power doors (way better than having to open SUV doors wide with kids) and the remote starter make everything easier.

Another option is the new Subaru Ascent . It's a 3 row vehicle with an option for captains chairs in the second row so you can easily access the third row. I am thinking of replacing my minivan with one if we still need the 3rd row seating.

I would also consider the Honda pilot. It has a 2nd row bench but the 2nd row is pretty big and it does have the 3rd row too.

A vehicle is a lot of money to pay because you care what others think. Get what you like. When you drive a minivan, you give zero f*cks what other people think.

Love ours. Love the hands free door and trunk. Love how cushy it feels- the room and the safety features. Also a hybrid so we are filling up only once every couple months, despite all the kids activities.

I'm sorry, I don't know anyone who buys cars for the purpose of driving other people's kids. Maybe my house size should be determined by how many kids want to sleepover at once too?

Most social people expect to have play dates and carpools. This is precisely why families with only 2 kids drive minivans or SUVs.

And most people buy a house with a guest room.

Here's the weird thing about cars yo are not required to keep them for the rest of your life.
If you get one car and decide it's not suited to you you can in fact change your mind and get a different car.
