OP, since you are the one annoyed, YOU have a responsibility to inform them - enough - to prevent annoyance.

OP here. No they definitely didn't know. And DH said it was too much to say in a text and he'd call them later.

Now that's not fair to the parents. If I were nagging my kids via text, I'd sure as hell want to know that I was bothering them in the ER. Your dh has got major issues that you end up being burdened with. I think the bigger problem is your dh, frankly.

np: I hope the health issue from last night has eased today. My son was in the hospital for most of 3-4 months a few years ago, and I asked parents and ILs for help with my other dcs who were 6 and 10. My mom helped for half the crisis, I had to beg her, my dad told her not to help. ILs are older and I didn't expect much from them, I was disappointed but I was way more upset at my dad. I finally started therapy last year to work on my anger and the stress of my son's chronic illnesses and behavior issues. Therapy is helping. Sorry to hear of your troubles, I sympathize.
