Ps: everyone in Montgomery County votes in all the school board races on the ballot. The “district” refers to where the candidate lives. So for example people in Silver Spring vote for the at large races and the “district” races, even if they don’t live in that district. So Everyone in Montgomery County has a chance to vote against Judy Docca, assuming she has an opponent by the time of the election, or 2 opponents by the time of the primary.

OP, thanks for pointing this out. I'm in her district and after this piece of information, I know for sure not to vote for her.

Why not you?

Or, more effectively -- talk somebody into running against her, or run against her yourself (if you live in District 1).

So to whomever it is who keeps pushing the "shut up or run" sentiments, that's not how all this works. People are allowed to critique the actions of their elected leadership even when they don't want to run for office. That being said, I'd be surprised if Dr. Docca doesn't have a competitive challenger in her next election and she's far too tarnished now to get the teacher's endorsement.


It is how it works -- at least if you want to accomplish something. If you just want to complain, then yes, here you are, complaining.


Are there enough offices for all voters to hold public office? No. The public always has the right to comment on the actions of their elected officials. That's how it works. That's why there is public discussions, open meetings and public comment.

The teachers union put up Judy Docca over and over and they want her back for another 4 years. Parents have the right to object to the teachers continued endorsement of candidates that use derogatory terms that put down students.
